Optical aspect & Footpad:

With the new graphic aspect influenced by Italian designer Fabio Canella we are taking a new direction and be more coloured while still keep it simple.

The 6mm thick over-dotted diamond groove grip pad has an extra 6mm soft sponge under-layer which makes it total 12mm and very nice and comfortable.

Shape Info “short”:

The extra length on the flat area under the straps is more stable across the axle and forgives wrong foot pressure so that the board keeps on riding like in cruise control modus. Besides that, passive planning (no pumping) is significantly better. The narrower width makes it easier to step into the straps and have both legs balanced in a comfortable position which makes any sailing direction especially going upwind much easier.

Scoop-Rocker:

Extra longer flat between the straps for better passive planning and more longitudinal stability when sailing along.

Volume distribution:

An almost even foot position height under the straps makes the ride and the upwind sailing almost feel effortless and the flat deck provides the save standing platform.

Outline:

The narrower width and the more parallel lines are closer to the center line and makes it much easier to find the straps and step into the sailing position and keep on driving the board to the speed you feel comfortable with. As well the jibing is easier and the narrow width tilt effortless to the leeward side into the curve and the wider tail keeps the board length in the water and drive through the jibes much easier.

Bottom Shape:

Double concaved V with stabilizing side flats from nose to the front strap to absorb the chop and give it a comfortable ride and then blend into a flat panel V all the way to the tail for all-round cruising stability and easy rail to rail transitions in manoeuvres.

Rails / Tuck:

The boxy rails make the maximum width float stable in non-planning conditions. As well trough the jibe the rail floats nicely and just keeps on going through the whole turn. The sharp tail edges show a clean water release for best planning and acceleration performance.

Deck Shape:

Both strap positions are designed to have enough dome and curve to have a comfortable stance when using any of the inside or outside positions.

Inside and outside strap position on both straps with an extra center possibility in the tail area. Each insert has 4-positions for individual settings.

CONSTRUCTION

For this board the blind testing with plain white boards proved that our Biax glass fibre is the choice over the Carbon construction. The reason is simple, the Carbon hard and physical and distributes the vibration much more and the Biax glass fibre has the extra flex and absorbs the vibration for a more comfortable and controlled ride whereas most riders proofed to be faster on head to head speed tests.

Simply amazing what is possible to do with a windsurfer and the young generation has pushed this discipline to another level. This shape is not just a board with a cut nose but it is a real developed short board and the differences are significant. No matter if in the air or on the water the rotation speed is simply faster and it is the key point to pull multiple moves.

The slalom based rocker-line balances out the performance of early planning, acceleration, top speed, control and maneuverability. The very flat nose curve is specially designed to have a better water flow in this normally very curved area. The smoother water flow increases the backward sliding speed for double sliding rotations and the release for backward sliding pop.

Outline

The reduced nose width improves the rotation speed on the water and in the air. The „kink“ in the tail outline reduces the wetted surface area for increased acceleration, top speed and better pop.

Bottom Shape

The flat panel V still proved to be the best all-in-one bottom shape for early planing performance, great acceleration and top speed and it also ensures the board remains reactive from rail to rail and slides easily for multiple spins.

Deck Shape

The dome deck under the back footstrap gives essential grip under the feet. At the front footstrap and mast-track area we kept a flatter deck to increase the comfort when riding switch or not standing in the straps.

Rail Shape

The rails are designed for the best ratio between volume balance, general performance (planning, acceleration, top speed, control), carving and sliding ability.

Inserts

A variety of inserts in the front allow riders to alter the angle and width of the footstraps to suit their style and foot size.        

With our additional GET line we respond to the constant request for a softer construction and offer a more comfortable ride next to our sporty line. Our GBM line is the stiffer and lighter construction using materials with a higher Carbon percentage while our GET line offers more flex and comfort with the softer fiberglass material.

GBM – The full deck and bottom Carbon/Kevlar construction has the best impact strength to weight ratio and are lighter, plane earlier and ride more direct.

GET – The full deck Carbon/Kevlar with the full biax fiberglass bottom make the boards feel more connected to the wave and the smoother and more controlled turns allow the rider to ride more radical.

A shorter name and a refreshed look is the change but the shape is still the one we like the most. Simply a board which does everything everywhere. The shape is designed independend from the fin setup and the rider just need to decide which shape fit to his body size and riding level. The fins can be tuned in many ways depending on surfing style and prevailiung conditions. The trailer and twinzer fin setup ride and slide the best from wave size between head to mast high. Bigger waves are conquered saver with the Thruster setup while strong wind flat water sailing makes most sense with a Single fin.THE CONCEPT

Many people understand that smaller and/or lighter riders tend to have smaller feet and/or a lighter/lower leverage point and therefore they prefer narrower tails and they can also handle shorter boards. Taller and/or heavier riders with bigger feet and/or longer legs have a higher/heavier leverage point and tend to prefer a bit of extra board length and tail width to support their weight and power on the tail.

A similar principle also applies to sailing level. Pro’s who drive their turns over the front foot and steer with the back, tend to opt for shorter shapes so they can carve short radiuses and close the turn over the narrow tail. Novice wave riders focus more on their back foot and need added width in the tail to support the additional force they exert over the tail so they don’t lose too much speed during the turn. A little bit of additional length also helps novices to float around and tackle any white water.

Analysis of the above leads us to the conclusion that there is a need for two board shapes. One that is shorter with a narrower tail and another with a bit of extra length and more width in the tail. Both board shapes can be designed to an optimum performance ratio between early planing, acceleration, speed and turning ability regardless of the fin setup.

With the trailer fin box arrangement of 3x 8″ US boxes, the fin setup can be adapted to suit the conditions and an individual’s riding style. The majority of multi fin boards on the market today have very small fin boxes with minimal room for adjustment and this, combined with the board shape, means that each model has a very narrow band of conditions that it performs well in. Even if you’re armed with plenty of fins, lots of time and knowledge, the boards will still be limited in their range of use and the only solution to cover a greater range of conditions will be to buy more boards.

However, this is not true with our boards. Over the past couple of years, we have proven that there is no other fin box arrangement that allows for as many fin setups and allows for them to be setup and fine tuned as easily and quickly as with our versatile 3 fin box arrangement.

f-race Freerace

Das neue PATRIK f-race ist eine echte Kreuzung aus Slalom und Freeride Shapes für alle, die sich Leistung mit Komfort wünschen. Dieser Shape ist kein modifiziertes Slalom Board. Das f-ride wurde komplett eigenständig von Patrik Diethelm zusammen mit ein paar anspruchsvollen Freeracern entwickelt. Um die Shapes für einen möglichst großen Einsatzbereich zu entwickeln, wurden sie mit 3- und 4-Camber Segeln und ohne Camber Segel getestet sowie mit G10- und Hochleistungs-Karbon-Finnen. Diese Freerace Boards sind genau das, was sich sich jeder Freeracer wünscht.

Ohne viel Kraftaufwand gleitet das neue an und beschleunigt komfortabel auf Top Speed. Das Board ist so komfortabel, dass du gar nicht spüren wirst, wie schnell du eigentlich bist. Das eigentlich Potential verstehst du erst, wenn du bemerkst, dass du ständig andere Windsurfer überholst.

Scoop Rocker Line
Die Scoop Rocker Linie beim f-race ist eine Mischung aus einer Slalom- und Freeride Biegelinie – für einen guten Performance Mix aus Speed und Kontrolle.

Unterwasserschiff
Die f-race haben ein flaches V im Heck für schnelle Kantenwechsel, eine saubere Abrisskannte, frühes gleiten und Top Speed. Der vordere Bereich hat ein durchgehendes V für mehr Grip und drive durch die Halse. Die Doppelkonkaven mit ihren flachen Seiten ermöglichen Dir einen entspannten Surftag bei maximaler Geschwindigkeit.

Deck Shape
S-Deck: Ein niedriger Hinterfuß und ein höherer Vorderfuß sowie eine tiefere Mastspur erlauben einen komfortablen Stand und aussergewöhnlich viel Kontrolle bei Raumen und Amwind-Kursen. Durch das flache Deck spricht das Board gut auf Impulse über die Füße an für leichtere Halsen und bessere Kontrolle bei Halsen.

Rail Shape
Die f-race Boards haben schöne voluminöse Rails im Heckbereich für komfortablen Stand in den Fußschlaufen. Diese Rails ziehen sich bis in die Mitte des Boards, um ein absaufen des Decks zu verhindern und das Board bei Halsen leichter durchgleiten zu lassen. Die dünnen Rails zur Nose hin reduzieren das Gewicht und machen das Board reaktionsfreudiger.
