OVERVIEW

Make sure to order your accessories when you are composing your individual AEON set from single parts. Shimset, bag and screwdriver need to be ordered seperately but will be included in the complete foil sets. Protection covers are included with the masts, frontwings and backwings. All AEON screws (m6 and m8) use the TX40 head. Tuttle box screw length will vary according to the board you are using and for that reason are not included with AEON the foil. Always make sure your tuttle box screws are long enough and fully use the thread lengths of the inserts.

CONCEPT

DESIGN GOALS
Our target was to create high-performance foils with full compatibility for all foiling sports and disciplines. 
We wanted this foil system to be commercially available at different price levels from the “whatever-it-takes world cup level” to the demanding needs of more price sensitive customers. The AEON has been designed for maximum control – easing the fight of mastering 3-dimensional flight for both the skilled world cup rider fighting in the pack and the indermediate rider. Having one connection system for wind-, wing-, prone- and kite-foiling is a massive economic advantage for multi sport users and allows every rider to find his perfect personal setup easily. At the same time the multi-sport option opens a much bigger market to resell AEON foil parts. The AEON will be vailable in our retail network as a complete high-performance foil system that can fulfil any waterman's wishes and needs. One system can do it all!

The massive success of the AEON-Foil in both Windsurfing AND Wing-Foiling is the result of our PATRIK R&D crew’s precise and hard work. Our products are being developed in a unique hybrid process where the human brain (knowledge) and hands (feeling) are clearly leading the computer aided design – not the other way around. Like this we’re able to design perfect products that no “A.I.” (artificial intelligence) could ever create. 
Fun-Fact: CFD (computational fluid dynamic) programs are created by humans, fed with data based on past practical tests, but will never be able to calculate completely new results outside their given data range. The PATRIK-Crew is practically developing and testing gear outside that software range and our results will be used later to feed and update currently available CFD programs.

The FoilGlide 3 is NOT just a freeride sail with ‘Foil’ written on it… Specifically designed for foiling with focus on the following points;

 

LIGHTWEIGHT. 

This is one of the most important characteristics. And we do lightweight sails better than anyone.

HIGH CENTRE OF LIFT. 

Increases leverage for efficiency. Improves pumpability. 

STABLE. 

Reduced draft movement means there’s less influence on trim. Better to keep everything constant. Cams keep the sail profile stable and minimize any movement.

SHORT BOOMS. 

Better control. The shorter boom length allows you to adjust your stance easily.
After the success of our foil racing sail, the HyperGlide, we have created a user-friendly freeride version – the FoilGlide. Sharing a lot of technology and ideology these sails are the ultimate for foiling.

The high-aspect design is more stable, more efficient, and more controllable. The shorter boom lengths are easy to manage, and position the Centre of Effort directly above the foil. Combined with a tighter leech, the leverage is increased which gets you up and foiling with a smaller sail in lighter winds.

With only 5 battens and lightweight construction, the physical weight of these sails is significantly less than other sails. For foiling this makes maintaining trim much easier, and just a lot more fun to use.

Freerace Foil

OVERVIEW

Directly based on our competition foil sails the GT3-Foil combines the lightness and smooth handling of a RDM sail with the locked feeling and speed of our pure racing sails. You will be amazed how light this 3-cam sail feels during the jibes or while starting. Its true racing DNA allows for a controlled and stable flight on the foil and the perfect aerodynamics of this high aspect design help to get planing and flying early. The softer and smaller mast sleeves makes the sail more forgiving and easier to waterstart as the sleeve takes less water when the sail gets dropped into the water. Camber rotation is soft and direct. On the fin this sail shines with exceptional control and balance for the advanced freerace rider while feeling light on the backhand no matter how hard the gusts are hitting. Conclusion: The GT3 is a super balanced sail with a broad range of use from foil slalom to fin freeracing.

 

CONSTRUCTION

At first sight, this sail could appear just as an "orange" version of our freeride sail but it's surely not! The GT-3 FOIL is the newest addition to the well-known PATRIK racing department and we selected the best materials accordingly. Protected inside the sleeve there is a thick 7 MIL monofilm luff panel (same as in our pure racing 4-cam sails) which provides the best stiffness for a locked profile.
Then -going towards the clew- we added a full vertical set of 5 MIL x-ply panels before the main body panels. This "stripe" helps to smooth and control the direct feeling of the cambered sails and it adds some extra resistance to this highly stressed area.
The main panels are a solid and thick 5 MIL clear monofilm (which provides best combo between weight and a good shape stability) and a 4 MIL orange tinted monofilm for the top part, where we maximize lightness and UV-resistance, since it's not needed to see through.
For the base and leech areas we kept 5 MIL x-ply materials. A real win-win mix: it gives protection to the most exposed zone of the sail and it keeps the rear edge of the sail stable and aerodynamically clean even in hi-wind choppy conditions.

 

TRIM

It's highly recommended to use the GT3-Foil on our RDM masts. Use our black and white VISIAL TRIM INDICATORS on the batten pockets as a reference for the correct downhaul tension. By holding the rigged sail at the foot (while the top is touching the ground) the wrinkels of the loose leech should reach from the leech to the colour change on the batten pockets. Don't put significantly less downhaul tension than this as the sail body needs this tension to be stable and locked.
Use the outhaul tension to adjust the sail to your needs: 
Experienced race foilers mostly prefer a flat and locked sail with more outhaul. Alternatively the GT3 will create more power with less outhaul tension for the fin sailor.

Extremely Early Flight

Free Flight is designed to get you up on the foil as quickly as possible, allowing you to use a tiny sail relative to the wind speed.


Tight Leech

Since there is less need for wind release in the leech during foiling, Free Flight takes advantage of the added power and stability gained by a tight leech design. This also allows you to use a smaller sail.


Foil Specific Foot Shape

Due to the more upright sailing position when foiling, the foot area of Free Flight is increased to allow you to close the gap when foiling with an upright sail position. This maximizes performance and efficiency.


4 Batten Layout

4 batten layout to provide a stable base and light weight.


1 or 2 Mini Cams

Smaller sizes feature 1 mini cam for optimum profile stability vs weight ratio. The 6.6 uses 2 mini cams to add extra stability in the lower portion of the sail in this sail's biggest size.

SAIL FEATURES


Slalom Sail Speed and Pure Foil Racing Without The Technicalities

Directly derived from our RS:Flight program, V8 Flight offers almost as much speed, power and upwind / downwind abilities as our pure racing foil sail but with a narrower luff sleeve and only 2 cams.


Narrow Double Luff Construction

A much narrower luff sleeve than the RS:Flight allows for quicker and easier rigging and minimizes the luff sleeve’s ability to fill with water when submerged after a fall.


Easier Rigging Than a Pure Slalom Sail

With only 2 cams and slightly less overall downhaul tension, V8 Flight rigs much quicker than a fully cambered foil slalom sail.


Gybing and Rotation

The advantage of a twin cam sail in the gybes is that the rotation is smoother and easier. This is especially helpful for foiling where every slight movement of the sail can affect the flight of the foil through the gybes.


Foil Specific

Designed purely for foil free-race, V8 Flight takes advantages of design features which are not possible to use on fin sails due to the need for control and wind release.


High Aspect Design 

The outline of V8 Flight is directly derived from the high-aspect design of the RS:Flight. This allows the sail to take maximum advantage of every gust and promotes maximum speed and upwind/downwind performance.


Tight Leech Design

Since control over chop is not an issue when up on the foil, V8 Flight is designed with a tighter leech than a pure slalom sail. This increases acceleration and efficiency and allows you to use a smaller sail.


6 Batten Design

Since foil sails do not need such an emphasis on control, we were able to reduce the V8 Flight to 6 battens, cutting out un-necessary weight and giving the sail a softer feel and better pumping / gybing abilities.

RS:Racing holds more world titles and speed records than any other racing sail over the past 20 years.


Quadruple Luff Construction

4 levels of material make up the luff sleeve to increase strength and load carrying performance in this critical, high-stress area of the sail. This luff sleeve design allows us to carry a maximum amount of downhaul tension and greatly reduces stretch in the luff sleeve area, thus increasing performance.

New for 2024, Taffeta in the upper luff sleeve increases stretch resistance, performance and durability.


6 Batten Design

Ultimate control and stability are provided by the 7 batten design. 


Airflow Batten Layout

Battens are laid out in an aerodynamically correct way, taking into account the rake of the sail when sailing. This improves airflow, allows for easier rotation and faster acceleration.


Leading Edge Rib

Carbon ribs sewn onto the upper sleeve’s leading edge stabilize this critical section of the profile on the highest battens where cambers are not used.

This helps maintain the sail’s profile clean, reducing drag, allowing higher top speed and ensuring proper rotation.


New Materials in Luff and Clew

The new materials have allowed us to improve durability and increase stretch resistance to create an even more responsive and competitive race sail.


High Aspect Design

The Predator is a dedicated windsurfing foil board. More aggressive than the Alien, it is designed to carve, jump and rotate on the foil.

Available in 4 sizes to suit a range of riders. Length is kept short on all sizes to reduce the lift required to keep it flying and also to increase maneuverability. Premium construction keeps the weight significantly below industry standard for real performance.

Designed to be ridden with both feet in the straps during moves, or with the back foot out on the rail when blasting. Inserts are only inboard for the back foot – this forces the rider to keep their weight directly over the foil when jumping or loading up the foil, and massively reduces leverage and the chance of breakages. As a true windsurf board, a deep-tuttle box is used for reliability, consistency, and ease of use. Excess inserts and finboxes have been eliminated, increasing simplicity and reducing weight.

Match the Predator with a FoilFreek for the ultimate combo. Larger Freek sizes also open up a world of carving and 360s’ in lighter winds for any size rider. Easily accessible to the intermediate foiler, the higher volume boards are also realistic for the motivated freestyler getting into foiling for the first time.

HIGH ASPECT RATIO DESIGN. REFINED.

Foiling requires a very precise technique as it is crucial that the position of the draft stays unchanged to keep the flight stable and uninterrupted.

The very high aspect ratio design of the sail adds efficiency, while keeping profile stability and this way dramatically improves the foiling experience. This specific design makes the sail’s luff longer, therefore allowing for the boom to be shorter, which translates to more control.

HIGHER EFFICIENCY

Lift is created by the leading edge. On a high aspect sail, the leading edge is much longer relative to the sail size and this extra lift creates a more efficient sail for the rider. One of the major drag components is the tip vortex. On a high aspect ratio sail this is relatively less compared to the overall sail size, hence the effect is minimized.

V8 Flight is rigged with tighter leech compared to conventional V8 freerace sail and provides exceptional performance in light wind; 8.0 on the foil will easily out-plane (or out-fly) any super large free ride sails while it will remain stable and fast even once the wind picks up.

 

COMPONENT SLEEVE CONSTRUCTION

Combining different materials in the sleeve sections allows us to achieve optimum profile entry stability and elasticity, smooth rotation and light weight.

By removing any stitching that could come in contact with the mast we created a seamless leading edge. This increases precision during the assembly process, reducing weight at the leading edge and creating a perfectly clean profile entry to eliminate construction weak spots.

Lightweight TetoronTM Upper-front section (1) offers the necessary elasticity and durability to resist direct mast contact.

A low stretch DyneemaTM Armour Web section (2) can take high downhaul tension and is critical in stabilizing the profile entry, providing smooth bridging between UltraCams.

A tapered strip of TetoronTM along the back edge of the sleeve (3) where it connects to the sail body is used to provide the necessary elasticity in this area together with improved durability.

The bottom part of the sleeve is finished in our durable and elastic Luff Glide material (4) allowing for important smooth rotation.

Purely designed as a windsurf foil board, the Alien enables all the variables to work in harmony and move beyond simply balancing on a foil to WINDSURFING on a foil. A functional foil board with refined details that makes foiling both accessible AND desirable. 

The Alien development program was initiated when the disappointment of bolting a hydrofoil to a normal windsurf board was realized. By analyzing and gaining a deep understanding of the new variables that foiling introduced, we saw that specific foil-oriented equipment was required to elevate the experience to a true windsurfing sensation; blasting in control and carving turns rather than balanced on top, nervously trimming. 

The differences between the Alien and a normal freeride are many; shape, length, rocker, stance, pretty much everything. But this new geometry works in conjunction with the foil and rig to deliver balance, and a new windsurfing world to any competent windsurfer. It opens up more locations to windsurf, and can double or triple your days on the water. 

Stable enough for your first flights, the Alien has the considered details to deliver performance so as not to be outgrown.
