Unser erfolgreichstes 5-Latten-Segel aller Zeiten kam 2023 mit einem Paukenschlag zurück, und für 2025 haben wir es einem Facelift unterzogen!

Das DUKE kombiniert unsere LIGHT DONE RIGHT-Konstruktion mit all den anderen Konstruktionskonzepten, die wir in den letzten zehn Jahren entwickelt haben, um einen neuen Maßstab für windbereichsorientierte Handlingsegel zu setzen.

Die Entwicklung des DUKE war ein 1,5-jähriges Projekt, bei dem der Endverbraucher, immer im Mittelpunkt stand. Als Ausgangspunkt haben wir „echte“ Endverbraucher, die diese Art von Segeln regelmäßig nutzen, und unsere Surfcenter einbezogen, um eine Bucket List für die Reinkarnation des DUKE zu definieren. hier ist das Ergebnis und wie es dazu kam:

Maximale Windreichweite, besonders bei wechselnden und/oder sehr böigen Bedingungen.

Dies ist der wichtigste Faktor und der größte Vorteil, wenn man sich für ein Segel mit 5 Latten entscheidet. Eine einfache Regel besagt, dass mehr Latten mehr Kontrolle und einen größeren Windbereich bedeuten. Normalerweise wirkt sich dies negativ auf die Leistung im unteren Bereich aus, da mehr Latten es dem Wind erschweren, das Segel aufzupumpen und es weniger effizient zu pumpen ist. Deshalb haben wir das BATTEN FREE CENTER Konzept aus dem SUPER_HERO übernommen. Anstelle der üblichen gleichmäßigen Lattenverteilung hat das DUKE einen größeren Abstand zwischen der Fußlatte und der Latte über dem Gabelbaum. Das macht den Gabelbaumbereich leichter aufblasbar und erhöht die Stabilität im Top (durch die erhöhte Lattendichte in diesem Bereich). Der zweite Nachteil ist, dass jede Latte das Gewicht des Segels erhöht. Das ist der Grund, warum in den letzten Jahren ein Trend zu weniger Latten bei Wavesegeln zu beobachten war.

Superleichtes Gefühl in den Händen, ohne dass es jedoch nach 1-2 Saisons auseinander fällt.

Das geringere Gewicht von 4-Latten-Segeln war der Hauptgrund für das Verschwinden der 5-Latten-Segel im letzten Jahrzehnt. Glücklicherweise haben wir in den letzten 10 Jahren einige wichtige Konstruktionsverbesserungen vorgenommen. Das Ergebnis dieser Entwicklung war die LIGHT DONE RIGHT CONSTRUCTION, die im Jahr 2022 eingeführt wurde. Indem wir die üblichen mehrlagigen Verstärkungen durch eine einzige Lage hochwertigen Gewebes ersetzt und zudem das ONE PIECE SLEEVE, die einteilige Masttasche eingeführt haben, konnten wir das Gesamtgewicht um 300 g reduzieren. Wir sind die einzige Marke, bei der diese gravierenden Gewichtseinsparungen erzielt wurden, ohne die Dicke der Folie und der XPly-Paneele zu reduzieren. Nur so können wir weiterhin unsere unübertroffene 5-Jahres-Garantie garantieren. Ein weiteres Problem bei der Reduzierung der Folienstärke ist, dass das Segel schwammig wird, da die Energie durch die erhöhte Dehnung verpufft. Dies führt dazu, dass sich das Segel in den Händen schwerer anfühlt. Unsere Segel sind deshalb nicht nur auf der Waage leichter, sondern sie fühlen sich vor allem auch auf dem Wasser, wenn du sie benutzt extrem leicht an. Denn das ist der Punkt, der wirklich zählt!Frühe

Gleitleistung auch ohne übermäßiges Pumpen

Um maximale Gleitleistung zu erreichen, verfügt das DUKE über eine hohe Druckpunkt Verteilung in Kombination mit einem tiefen Profil, das das Board früh ins Gleiten bringt.

Super neutral bei Manövern

Um Tricks und Turns so einfach wie möglich zu machen, sollte das Segel bei Manövern komplett neutral in der Hand liegen. Deshalb ist das DUKE mit einer mehr nach vorne gerichteten Druckpunkt Position ausgestattet. Der Zug nach vorne schaltet die Power aus und geht komplett in die Neutralstellung, sobald du das Segel aufmachst oder shiftest. Dies führt zu einer viel höheren Erfolgsquote.

Guter Auftrieb und Kontrolle beim Springen

Die höhere Druckpunkt Position erhöht auch deine Airtime, da sie Auftrieb erzeugt, während der mehr nach vorne gerichtete Druckpunkt dir hilft, immer die Kontrolle zu behalten.

Maximaler Einsatzbereich

Einer der größten Vorteile des DUKE ist seine Vielseitigkeit. In Bump & Jump Bedingungen liefert dir das Duke auf deinem Freewave Board oder in einer kleineren Größe zum rumschiessen auf deinem Freeride Board einfach Begeisterung pur. Durch den vorne- und oben liegenden Druckpunkt eignet es sich zudem sehr gut für klassische und sogar New School Freestyle Tricks. Nicht zuletzt ist es ein großartiges Segel für mittlere Wellen- und/oder Sprungbedingungen, besonders bei böigen oder schwierigen Windverhältnissen. Das neue DUKE ist also ein echtes Allround-Hochleistungssegel, das jedes Handlings orientierte Segel herausfordert.

Schnell aufzuriggen

Mit all den Funktionen, Markierungen und Hinweisen, die wir in den letzten 40 Jahren entwickelt haben, kann man mit Sicherheit sagen, dass sich kein anderes Segel schneller und präziser aufriggen lässt als ein DUOTONE-Segel. Auch wenn du kein Profi bist, der sein Segel jeden Tag neu aufbaut und trimmt, wirst du trotzdem den gleichen korrekten Trimm erzielen. Denn nur mit dem richtigen Trimm kannst du die Leistung des Segels zu 100% ausschöpfen.

Ähnliches Gefühl wie bei den größeren Freeride/Performance Segeln

Ein weiterer wichtiger Faktor ist, dass alle Segel in deinem Quiver ein ähnliches Gefühl bzw. Fahrverhalten haben sollten. Das gilt sogar für Profis, denn selbst sie brauchen normalerweise einen ganzen Tag, um sich an ein Segel

zu gewöhnen, das sich ganz anders anfühlt. Der Hauptgrund, warum sich Segel unterschiedlich anfühlen, ist die Position des Druckpunktes im Segel. Glücklicherweise hat das DUKE auch hier einen sehr ähnlichen Druckpunkt, wie die meisten modernen Freeridesegel.

BUMP AND JUMP WITH MAXIMUM RANGE OF USE FROM FLATWATER TO WAVES!
 

OVERVIEW

The X-Cross most probably is the most versatile sail on the market. From freeride blasting in flatwater to busting airs in the waves of Australia, this sail can do it all. A 5-batten concept based on our successful 5Wave wave sail incorporates the newest ideas and tweaks of Patrik Diethelm and Fabio Canelle to become everybodies darling. The small sizes are more manouver-orientated while the bigger sizes are designed to be perfect flatwater and bump-and-jump joy machines.

CONSTRUCTION

This sail should be ready to join you in almost any conditions. Construction-wise the X-Cross is a clever mix of our Wave and Freeride lines. The sail bottom part is made of same 4 MIL x/scrim-ply material found on 4-Wave and 5-Wave, since this is the most critical area for impacts. The main window is a solid and thick 5 MIL monofilm which provides best combo between visibility, impact resistance and weight. For the top part of the sail, we choose a 4 MIL blue tinted monofilm, which is lighter and adds UV-resistance where you don't need to see through. The luff panel is still made by a soft dacron (again, same as our wave sails) that adds extra power on demand into the sail. As a further bonus, we chose a white 5 MIL x-ply and blue 2.5 MIL x/scrim-ply along leech and top panel, to add a touch of wear resistance to an area which is always stressed while rigging and rolling the sail.

 

TRIM

The X-Cross can be rigged in many different ways: From baggy wave style to high-tension freeride with a more pronounced loose leech... Just take this sail whereever you like and adjust its trim accordingly.
